Nevada – A new statewide poll recently released by the Democracy Defense Project (DDP) provides a timely look at how Nevadans view elections, revealing strong support for reforms and a growing awareness of the need to protect the democratic process.

While confidence in Nevada’s electoral system has declined since fall 2024, leaders like Governor Joe Lombardo and Secretary of State Cisco Aguilar continue to receive strong job approval ratings. The results show that Nevadans remain highly engaged and are seeking trusted voices to help strengthen faith in the system.

According to the poll, 84% of voters say election integrity and reform are “extremely” or “very” important to them, and most support concrete steps to improve the process. Voter ID draws support from 66% of respondents, while proposals such as standardizing drop box regulations (82%) and allowing nonpartisan voters to participate in primaries (66%) also receive broad backing.

Currently, 31% of Nevadans say they are “very confident” in the integrity of the state’s elections. While that marks a decrease, the data reflects a public that is paying close attention and eager for reassurance. Encouragingly, trust in local election workers is improving. A majority of voters (57%) now believe these individuals count votes fairly and play a vital role in the process—an uptick from last year.

Former Governor Brian Sandoval, co-chair of the Democracy Defense Project, said the findings reflect both a challenge and an opportunity.

“Nevadans care deeply about their elections, and they’re watching closely. These numbers remind us that we have a responsibility to meet voters where they are, share facts, and reinforce that our system is secure, accurate, and worth believing in.”

Former Assembly Speaker Richard Perkins, also a DDP co-chair, emphasized the need for trusted communication.

“This is a critical moment. Voters are looking for confidence in the process, even when outcomes aren’t what they hoped for. Trusted messengers—from public officials to local poll workers—have an essential role in reminding Nevadans that our democracy works best when we all participate.”

As Nevada looks ahead to the 2026 election cycle, DDP will continue working with civic organizations, local leaders, and election officials to promote fact-based information, strengthen public understanding, and rebuild confidence in the state’s institutions.
