It’s not exactly a surprise but it’s still reassuring to know that Granite Staters continue to have confidence in how our local elections are conducted. National elections? Not so much.
The Democracy Defense Project conducted the survey of more than 1,000 registered voters here last month. At 82 percent, confidence in the accuracy of how votes are cast and counted here remains extremely high in New Hampshire. Nationally, that dips to about 65 percent…
…Two former congressmen, Republican Charlie Bass and Dick Swett, chair the bipartisan project here. Other states involved are Michigan, Arizona, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Nevada, and Georgia.
New Hampshire is rightly proud of our election system, which is also why this nugget from the report is not a shocker:
“When it comes to federal involvement in the New Hampshire election process, Granite Staters are strongly opposed to such action, including 58 percent who are against turning over any election data to the U.S. Department of Justice, as well as 78 percent opposed to the federal government taking over elections.”
