Democracy Defense Project New Hampshire Board Statement on DOJ Voter Lawsuit

NEW HAMPSHIRE – The below statement is attributed to Fmr Ambassador and Rep Dick Swett and Fmr Rep Charlie Bass who co chair the Democracy Defense Project in New Hampshire in response to the federal lawsuit seeking access to New Hampshire’s full voter registration database:

“Once again, those in Washington are trying to interfere and gain private information from our voter rolls – and once again our New Hampshire Secretary of State is defending our New Hampshire laws, and our Live Free or Die way of life.

New Hampshire elections will continue to be conducted by New Hampshire residents and according to local and state law. And the federal government has no business accessing our personal voter information regarding social security numbers, addresses and names.

We fully support Sec of State Scanlan in his assertion of New Hampshire rights and expect the courts to affirm this egregious federal government overreach into our elections”
