West Point, GA — The Democracy Defense Project (DDP), a nationwide, bipartisan coalition of leaders dedicated to fighting misinformation about America’s election system and restoring public confidence, today announced that former U.S. Congressman Drew Ferguson has joined its Board of Directors in Georgia.
Ferguson, who previously served as Mayor of West Point, Georgia, and represented Georgia’s 3rd Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives, brings more than two decades of public service and leadership experience to the organization. Ferguson will work alongside other leaders to advance DDP’s mission of promoting election integrity and countering misinformation that undermines trust in the democratic process.
“Our elections are the foundation of our republic, and protecting public confidence in them is imperative,” said Ferguson. “I’m proud to join the Democracy Defense Project to help ensure that Georgians — and all Americans — can have faith in the security and accuracy of our election systems.”
Through public education, bipartisan engagement, and fact-based advocacy, the Democracy Defense Project works to reinforce the integrity of the electoral process while encouraging continued vigilance to maintain high standards of transparency and security.
Ferguson emphasized that Georgia has emerged as a national leader in election administration, citing recognition from election experts across the country.
“Georgia has been recognized as the gold standard for election integrity, thanks to strong safeguards, transparency measures, and dedicated election officials,” Ferguson added. “While we must always remain vigilant, we cannot allow misinformation and political fearmongering to weaken confidence in a system that is secure and reliable.”
As part of its broader mission, DDP brings together bipartisan leaders from across the country to defend the validity of American elections, promote public understanding, and restore trust in democratic institutions.
Ferguson’s addition to the Georgia Board of Directors underscores the organization’s continued commitment to engaging experienced, credible voices in this effort.
