Democracy Defense Project – Georgia, RightCount Georgia Urge Fulton County Commission to Comply with Court Order

ATLANTA, GA – Today, leaders of Democracy Defense Project – Georgia and RightCount Georgia released a joint statement urging members of the Fulton County Commission to comply with Senior Superior Court Judge David Emerson’s order to appoint members of the county election board.

“Obeying court orders—even when you disagree with them—is a cornerstone of the Rule of Law and of our Constitutional Republic. The Fulton County Commission has every right to appeal a ruling or to criticize it publicly. But defying a court order is reckless and dangerous. The Commission must stop playing games and do the right – and lawful – thing.

“Each Fulton County commissioner took an oath to uphold the law and the Constitution. They are not above the law—no one in our Republic is. We call on the Fulton County Commission to immediately comply with Judge Emerson’s order.”
