Phoenix, AZ— Arizona Democracy Defense Project board members Governor Jan Brewer, Congressman Matt Salmon, former State Rep. Daniel Hernandez and Yuma County Supervisor Jonathan Lines issued the following statement regarding the ongoing election administration dispute in Maricopa County:
“Early voting for the 2026 Primary Election is just weeks away, and voters across Maricopa County are relying on local leaders to deliver a safe, secure, and well-run election. As preparations continue, it is critical that all election stakeholders remain focused on coordination, communication, and execution to ensure voters can have confidence in the process.
“Administering an election of this scale requires close collaboration between county offices, election staff, and the many volunteers who help make Election Day operations possible. These individuals play an important role in supporting the democratic process, and maintaining a professional, solutions-oriented environment is essential to ensuring smooth election administration.
“The Democracy Defense Project encourages all parties involved to continue working together to finalize election plans and address any outstanding issues well ahead of Election Day. The focus should remain on serving the voters of Maricopa County, strengthening public confidence, and ensuring elections are conducted efficiently, securely, and without unnecessary distractions.”
